Mariatu Kargbo at the world environment day at the birth city of Confucius
Mariatu Kargbo, known as the Black Pearl of China, was the first Sierra Leonean to achieve two Guinness World Records titles (for the Largest Sampa Dance and Most Donations in 24 hours, during the Ebola crisis) and the first to reach the final of Miss World, winning two awards along the way.
In 2019, Mariatu was the first Sierra Leonean to perform at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing to the presidents of China and all member countries of the African Union. To celebrate the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Sierra Leone and China, and the 20th anniversary of the China-Africa Cooperation Forum (FOCAC), Mariatu has released a new song called
“Look At Me” which talks about her love for Africa and China. Mariatu would like to thank Sierra Leone’s best sound engineer, Wilbert, for his support in promoting African music and the world’s DJs for spreading the message. She hopes everyone will love the song and share it with the world.(Maliya black pearl of china)
